Ille Arts proudly presents SMALL, a group show featuring Christine Ganeaux, Claire Libin and Alicia Rothman. Opening date is May 25th, 2019. There will be a reception for the artists on May 25th from 5 to 7pm. The show will run until June 17th, 2019.

The name of the exhibition hints at the intimate size of the works. All three artists are very comfortable remaining within the constraints of a small canvas. Their approaches and subjects are widely different though, Christine Ganeaux’s portraits and still life paintings are born as explorations of the differences between the psyche of the subject and the image captured by the artist. Her approach to still life paintings begins with a thought about who might own the objects, or the environment in which they came to exist. Flowers are Claire Libin’s muses. The reverse on glass indigo paintings attempt to render the luminosity that reflects the otherworldliness of flowers. Her recent watercolors + ink on paper are done swiftly, hoping to mirror the joy, secrecy, and magic of photosynthesis. Alicia Rothman's paintings combine original use of print techniques with oil and other mediums to produce subtle plays on shape and color. Influences include ancient wall paintings in Italy, Byzantine mosaics, Medieval and Renaissance art in addition to 20th century textiles and paintings. art by Christine Ganeaux, Claire Libin and Alicia Rothman
